CC is the joy of my life and my bed dog. In the show ring, she earned BOTH majors with Group Firsts.
As a special, CC was a Top 10 whippet, entirely owner-handled. Over the course of her specials career(1.5 years, plus some select shows in 05 & 06),
CC won over 55 Best Of Breeds, 25 Group placements, 4 Group Firsts, and 5 American Whippet Club Awards of Merit.
Of those AOMs, two of them were back to back first selects at the AWC National Specialty, under Breeder Judges - Annie Clark(2005) and Bo Bengtson(2006).
|
The other AOMs came at the North Central Specialty, with a 1st AOM, under Mrs. Betty Stites(2004), and the final two AOMs were not
ordered by the judges(North Central Specialty - Mrs. Mary Beth Arthur 2005, Mrs. Cindy Scott 2006).
At the 2006 American Whippet Club North Central Specialty(her last show as a special), CC took an Award Of Merit on Friday, and
Best Of Breed on Sunday over 73 Whippets under Carol Duffy on route to a Group 1.
As a Veteran, CC is finally able to show again, and in August of 2008 re-entered the ring at the AWC North Central Specialty. CC was awarded Best Veteran in Sweepstakes,
won her Veterans class, and earned her FOURTH Award Of Merit at this show, and SIXTH overall select, under Mr. Michael J. Dougherty.
On Aril 11th, 2009 at the American Whippet Club National Specialty, CC places 1st in the 7-10 Veteran Bitch class and goes on to take
2nd Award of Merit under Mr. Magnus Hagstedt. This was CC's third AWC National since finishing her championship
and her third Award of Merit at a National(2005, 2006, 2009).

Following her performance at the 2009 National, CC entered the AWC North Central specialty as an 8 year old Veteran. Under judges Angie Diehl(Nysa Hill Whippets) and Nancy Billups(Cloud9 Whippets),
CC took back-to-back Best Veteran in Sweeps. Over CC's career she competed numerous times against Moxi (owned my Angie Diehl) and Smooch (owned by Nancy Billups)
and it meant so much to be able to present CC to them in their sweeps ring for their evaluation.
Perhaps even more special was being able to show CC to Iva Kimmelman who "introduced" CC to the Whippet world at the
2003 AWC National by awarding her 1st in the Open Bitch Class. Thank you, Mrs. Kimmelman, for giving CC her 8th Award of Merit at
an AWC Sponsored Specialty. Since CC is only able to show at stand alone specialties, our time in the ring together means so much.
CC's 9th AWC Award of Merit, and FOURTH at a National came at the 2010 American Whippet CLub National Specialty under Mr. Russell McFadden, (Timbrel Whippets).
The story of how CC came into my life is an amazing one.
At the time I had a retired racing greyhound, whom I enjoyed coursing. Well, the time had come to add another dog to the house and I had fallen in love with sight hounds. But, I was torn between the Pharaoh Hound and Whippet
A very good friend had a Whippet, and informed me that her breeder was going out of town and needed someone to pet sit one of hers. This was the perfect opportunity to see how a Whippet fit in my home.
So, I contacted her breeder (Ellen Morgan, Yorktown Whippets) and arranged to look after one of her Whippets. When I picked the Whippet up, Ellen told me “Don’t get attached, this is my pick bitch. If she fits into your home, we can talk about a puppy from my next litter.”
The week came and went, and of course…I got attached. When I returned the Whippet, I was crying and told Ellen if she ever parted with this one, to call me. A week later Ellen calls, “If you promise she will sleep in your bed every night, you can have her.”
That Whippet was CC…and I can never thank Ellen Morgan of Yorktown Whippets enough for giving me such an incredible girl!

At 8 years young, CC steps back into the ring at the American Whippet Club North Central Specialty:
8/21/2009 - AWC North Central Specialty - Best Veteran In Sweeps - Angie Diehl (Nysa Hill Whippets)
8/21/2009 - AWC North Central Specialty - 1st Award Of Merit - Iva Kimmelman (Merci Isle Whippets)
8/22/2009 - St Croix Valley KC - Best Veteran In Sweeps - Nancy Billups (Cloud9 Whippets)
What an honor to be able to show to these three breeder judges.
Over CC's career she competed numerous times against Moxi (owned by Angie Diehl) and Smooch (owned by Nancy Billups)
and it meant so much to be able to present CC to them in their sweeps ring for their evaluation.

At the bottom of the page is a picture of CC enjoying one of her prizes...
"Bait and beds", her REAL motivation.
